Offline mode
Your phone saves the app’s pages while you have a signal. Where there’s no signal, it shows you the saved copy instead. Nothing can be changed on a saved copy until the signal comes back.
Before you set off
- Open the app while you still have a signal.
- The first time, leave it open for a few seconds while it saves everything. After that it only fetches what has changed, which takes a moment.
What’s saved
- Every tab.
- Every event still to come.
- Every member.
- This guide.
Each time you open the app with a signal, it checks which of these have changed and fetches them again. Anything deleted is removed from your phone.
A page you open is saved too, such as a past event under History. One that isn’t on the list above is removed after a month.
With no signal
Open the app as usual. A saved copy has a band across the top saying Saved copy, last checked, then when.
It may have changed since. The answer boxes, and every button that changes something, are switched off.
So are View and Sort. A saved copy shows the page the way it was saved.
A page that isn’t saved shows the Saved on this phone page instead, with a list of the pages that are.
Where the signal is weak rather than gone, the saved copy appears after a few seconds.
When the signal comes back
Press Reload on the band, or open the page again. Anything that changed while you were away appears then.
What isn’t saved
- Your settings, and the pages for changing things.
- Files, such as recordings and attachments. Your phone may still have one you opened recently, but don’t count on it.
- Anything an admin opens with admin view on. If you’re an admin, press See it as a member does on Your settings before you set off.
Signing out removes everything saved on that phone.
On an iPhone, everything saved is removed if you don’t open the app for a week, unless it’s on your home screen.
