Guide

How the app works

The app is where the group keeps track of who’s coming to each event.

To say whether you’re coming, you only need Getting started and Events. The rest of the guide is here for when you need it.

1. Everybody

Anybody who’s signed in can do everything in this part. On the Dances and Music tabs, though, you can only fill in your own answers.

Getting started
Signing in, and putting the app on your home screen.
Events
Reading the grid, answering, and what the totals mean.
Polls
Asking the group a question, and who sees the answers.
Dances
The repertoire, and saying how well you know each dance.
Music
The tunes, and saying which ones you play.
Docs
The group’s papers, and who can put one up.
Members
Who’s on the list, and where your own details live.
Past events
Where events go afterwards, and why their answers are locked.
Your settings
Your calendar, your devices, what you’re told about, and light or dark mode.
Offline mode
Reading the app where there’s no signal.
Security
Why your email address is your key, and what the app never asks of you.

2. Looking after an event, and the offices

This part is for whoever is looking after an event, and for anybody who holds an office. You’re looking after an event when you’re named as its Responsible member. An office is a job you do for the group, and each one lets you do a little more than everybody else.

Anybody can answer for anybody, but not everybody can do the things in this part. They change what the whole group is told, rather than what one person said.

Looking after an event
Editing, chasing, and confirming a booking.
The offices of the group
Every office, who holds it, and what it lets you do.
Changing the repertoire
Retiring dances, and the lists that describe dances and tunes.

3. Admins

Admins add people to the list and take them off, and look after the pages under the Admin tab. Only an admin can correct a past event. Admins can also fill in anybody’s answers on the Dances and Music tabs.

An admin starts off seeing the app just like everybody else. To use admin powers, press Turn admin view on for an hour in Your settings (your name, top right).

Admin view
Why being an admin and using it are two different things.
Members, as an admin
Adding people, taking them off, and dates of birth.
The admin pages
Every page under the Admin tab, and what each one sets.
Correcting the past
Reopening past events, and how every change is recorded.
